The Border Tool allows you to add borders around the side of a cake or on the top surface of a cake. You can option the border tool by clicking on the following icon (a cake needs to be selected for the icon to be clickable)

Here is an example of what the border tool can do...

To use the Border Tool, first select a Cake. Upon selecting a cake, the Border Tool will become available and will look like this when opened...

Borders can be added to the Top of the cake, and to the Side of the cake. To add a border, simply click on one of the buttons. Let's start by adding a border to the side of the cake.

After clicking on 'Add Side Border', you will see a border item appear in the tool but nothing will appear on the cake until you select the border and choose from one of the available borders that appear in the Border Settings section.

To select a border, click on the small checkbox in the top left corner of the border item.

After selecting the a border, the available borders will appear in the Border Settings section.

With the border item selected, and the available borders displayed, we are ready to apply the border object to the selected border. To do this, simply click on one of the available border objects.

Once you do this, a few things will occur.

  • The selected object will be applied to the border item and will appear on the cake.

  • Additional border settings will appear in the Border Settings section.

  • Additional settings will appear on the actual border item.

Example of border settings appearing after clicking on a border object.

Let's go through the options that appear in the Border Settings section and explain what they do. Please note, you can hover your cursor over the icon for each setting and an explanation will appear.

Size: This setting will adjust the size of each object within the border.Note that adjusting this will automatically adjust the Width and Height setting to match.

Width: This setting will adjust the width of each object within the border.

Height: This setting will adjust the height of each object within the border.

Count: This setting will adjust the number of objects within the border.

Angle: This setting will adjust the angle of each object within the border.

Orientation: This setting will adjust the angle of each object within the border, incrementally, so that the border appears to be going around the cake. This is useful for round shaped cakes.

Please note that any change made here will reapply the entire border so there may be a slight delay after each adjustment.

Now let's talk about the settings that appear within the border item itself.

Colour: Depending on the border object selected, there will be a number of different areas within the object where colour can be adjusted. Each circle that appears is for each of these areas. After clicking on one of the circles, a colour picker will appear to be able to adjust the colour.

Position: This  setting will move the borders location on the cake. For Side borders, it will move the border up and down. For Top borders, it will move the border in and out from the centre of the top of the cake.

There are also a couple of small icons on the top right corner of each border item.

The first icon is to copy the border item. After copying a border item, its position will automatically be adjusted by 20%.

The small X icon can be used to remove/delete the border.

Additionally, you can select or delete ALL borders by using the checkbox or the X icon on the the "Top Borders" and "Side Borders" headings.

This article will be updated as we improve the Border Tool and add new functionality.
